Richard was born and raised in Washington DC where he began taking photographs with his first camera in high school. Richard took a black and white photography course, his only formal training, while attending Plymouth State College in New Hampshire where he obtained a BS in Environmental Biology and a minor in art. In 1995 Richard left his job as a Paramedic Firefighter with the Concord Fire Department in Concord, NH, and traveled throughout Asia for 14 months. He worked as a whitewater rafting guide while there, and honed his skills as an adventure travel photographer. Richard has been traveling the world for over 15 years participating in adventures that allow him to bring back images with a truly unique perspective. Both the spectacular landscapes and people of the places Richard has traveled combine to form his striking and sensitive images. "I like images that include people. People are a natural part of any landscape and can give scale and perspective to an image" Exhibitions include Richard has also been featured in publications which include: Backpacker Magazine, Canoe and Kayak Magazine, National Geographic Adventure. June 5, 2008 The GO date is the date when, if the minimum number of students has registered, we know the class will be held. If the minimum number of students has not registered by the GO date, the class will be canceled. So be sure and register early to help ensure your class will be held. |

| Course Description |
Learn the power of your digital point and shoot camera. This class is for anyone with any or no level of experience. It is perfect if you want to learn the basics of operating your camera, and for artists that work in other media, particularaly painters that want to capture images from which to work. Topics covered will include how the camera works, operation of your camera, composition for photography, and getting your digital images to print form. The day will be broken out as follows:

Supply list to be provided by students: 1. Digital point and shoot camera with memory card 3. Camera manual for the camera you bring 4. If available, bring your laptop computer with photo software installed (Photoshop or Photoshop elements recommended) Supply list to be provided by instructor: 1. Camera and laptop computer for demonstration Note: There will be a materials fee of $5 payable to the instructor at the time of class.
