Dancing Skeletons (Calaveras) Mixed Media Workshop with Kellie Day
October 19 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Day of the dead started in Mexico, but is celebrated all over Latin America with colorful calaveras (skulls). In this class, come celebrate your favorite Ancestors and create a dancing skeleton painting in mixed media with local Artist Kellie Day.Make art for your family members who are no longer with us – Or just ‘cause you like skeletons!
We’ll create Bones-y black lines, and pretty patterns and flowers. OR add tequila and beer bottle labels to capture the persona. Kellie will show you how to create a Dancing Calavera painting on canvas for your home to celebrate ancestors’ lives.
Whether your Granny loved being in an apron, under the hood of an auto, or in the garden – OR maybe a bar where grandpa drank beers with buds. Bring elements of the people you’ve lost that you love. Like little print-outs of family photos. We’ll dance it all together in an original artwork to set the scene.
There are endless variations of Art you can make with handmade stamps, collage and paint, and local mixed media artist Kellie Day will guide you in this colorful celebration of Dia de los Muertos.
