10-Minute Musical Madness!
Ages 10-18, at the Wright Opera House
A Theatre Camp for Teens and Tweens presented by Weehawken Creative Arts in partnership with The Wright Opera House made possible by the Equity in Arts Learning Grand from Think 360 Arts
Join Weehawken director Colin Sullivan and Musician and teacher Karisa Hoover for a fun and engaging two-week musical theater camp for tweens and teens. Over the course of two weeks, students will work with a director, choreographer and musical director to produce and perform in several 10-minute musicals that premiered at NYC’s annual SOUND BITES Festival of 10-Minute Musicals. For students who want to dip their toe into the world of musical theater, who want to hone their acting skills, or who just want to have a hilariously good time telling stories…THIS is the camp for you.
Storybook Theatre Camp
Ages 6-9, at The Sherbino Theater
This class is for all your budding theater kids out there! Using theater games and imaginative play, we’ll work on building full plays out of one or both of Adam Rubin’s incredible storybooks: Dragons Love Tacos and Those Darn Squirrels. We’ll have a tremendous time learning to make these stories we love come to life!
Adventures in Improv with Josh Nichols
Ages 18+ at The Sherbino Theater
Come join instructor Josh Nichols, Education Director of RISE Comedy in Denver, to play games, meet new friends, and learn how improvisational skills can benefit your life both onstage and offstage. Join us and discover the power of “Yes, And…” for yourself!
Improvisation is a tool that helps performers, actors, and people of any background or skill set. You will learn how to be truly present, conscious, and in the moment, which can be difficult in today’s society. You will learn how to listen and accept others’ ideas and your own. You will learn to trust yourself and take risks in a safe, supportive environment. And you will learn to play and have fun, just like when you were a kid!
