Wildflowers of the Gunnison Gorge Area
May 12, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Explore the early season beauty of the Gunnison Gorge area with Ridgway writer Mary Menz and Montrose photographer Jim Pisarowicz. They’ll share with participants their extensive plant knowledge, photography tips, and enthusiasm for this beautiful area. Participants will move between sites by car with short spurts of hiking after meeting at a centrally-located place to carpool (familiar pods in vehicles or caravan in our own vehicles). We’ll meet at a centrally-located place to caravan. Masks and social distancing required per state guidelines in place at the time.
Bring cameras and nature journals to satisfy your creative outlets, too. Jim will offer photography tips on the fly and you’ll learn about the plants and animals that call this place home. Different elevations and habitats provide opportunities to view a wide variety of Colorado’s native plants and wildflowers. Register for one guided experience or all!
Registration includes a copy of their book Common Wildflowers of the San Juan Mountains (2019). Dress for variable weather conditions. More information will be provided one week prior to the event.
