Curious about encaustic? This workshop is for you! Discover what you can create with this ancient medium, a molten mixture of beeswax, tree sap and pigment. This a two day, basic encaustic techniques workshop, we will start with safety, history and materials including making our encaustic medium and paint. Then we will explore a variety of encaustic techniques, including prepping substrates, fusing wax, layering translucent color, adding and reducing texture, color inlay, surface scraping, masking, stencils, mark making, image transfer techniques and more.
The workshop is designed to give participants an overview of the encaustic process. This is a high-energy in person, adult class, with lots of hands-on time to make your own hot art. No experience necessary, all materials provided.
