This is a beginning acting class designed for Ouray County community members that have a wide range of acting experience and are interested in honing their work for the stage. Core components of the class include, monologue-writing, listening-and-reacting, physical clowning, physical gesture work, Viewpoints and basic vocal training. We will use these tangible/concrete ideas along with contemporary scenes from theater as well as our own handwritten monologues to explore stage performance in accessible and exciting ways! The class will require some outside script analysis and writing.
Colin recently moved on from his decade-long tenure as Telluride Theatre’s Executive Director, where he was also the founder and instructor in the company’s unique ACTions Education programs. He holds a B.A. in theatre arts from St. Lawrence University and a Master’s in Teaching from Fordham University. He’s studied acting professionally with additional training opportunities from The Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s professional apprenticeship program, The Globe Theatre in London and the Michael Chekhov Institute. Colin was also a director and ensemble actor who appeared in many past Telluride Theatre productions including: Bella & Buckley’s, Inaccurate Reenactments, Bear It, War of the Words, Squids Live, Big Love, Cataclysm, CON, Barry, Alice Underground, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, WAKE UP!, The Importance of Being Earnest & Dinner with Dionysus, Since I Dreamed, MacGyver the Musical and many more.
