Commedia dell’arte Workshop will begin February 22nd on Mondays and Wednesdays through March 24th.
In this 5 week workshop students will celebrate the “comedy of the profession” by exploring the classic training of Commedia dell’arte. Curriculum will include study of Physical Comedy (work examples from Lucille Ball, John Ritter and others), Mask (examples of story telling through movement such as Charlie Chaplin), Mime (work examples from Edward Grigorian who inspired Robin Williams) and improvisational games (think comedy sports).
Under the direction of teaching artist Kathleen O’Mara, students will develop a culminating performance for family and friends based on the characters they create. Performance dates and times to be determined according to the student's family availability. Workshop class for 2nd to 5th graders will be held from 3:15 PM to 4:30 PM.
