WE’VE FOUND OUR FUTURE IN Montrose

A New Home for Creativity

Weehawken Creative Arts is excited to share that we have signed an agreement for a new home at 28 West South 4th Street in Montrose—with the goal of ultimately purchasing the building. This nearly 10,000 square foot space gives us the opportunity to bring all of our Montrose programs under one roof for the very first time.

OUR VISION IS SIMPLE AND POWERFUL:
  • 5 active classrooms by Fall 2026
  • Dance, aerial, and visual arts happening simultaneously
  • A central home for students, families, and teachers
  • A welcoming lobby and gathering space
  • Outdoor courtyard for classes, performances, and events

This space allows us to expand beyond classes into community-building experiences—from dance nights and workshops to creative gatherings and special events.

WHAT THIS SPACE MAKES POSSIBLE:
  • A permanent home for over 300 dance students and growing
  • Expanded youth and adult art programs
  • Improved scheduling, accessibility, and efficiency
  • A place where creativity is visible, active, and shared
A Central Hub for Arts, Movement & Community!

What Needs to Happen

To open the space by Fall, we must transform a former light industrial building into a safe, welcoming, and inspiring educational facility.

Immediate Interior Project Needs:

  • Intensive cleaning and preparation
  • Full interior painting
Installation of additional exit doors (code compliance)
  • Construction of 4+ restrooms/changing areas
  • Creation of a sprung dance floor (critical for dancer safety)
  • Buildout of lobby and common areas

Site Development:

  • Exterior improvements and energy-efficient upgrades
  • Signage and identity for the building
  • Murals and artistic enhancements
  • Relocation of existing storage containers
  • Purchase of additional storage containers
  • Creation of a courtyard space for: Outdoor classes, small performances, and community events
This is more than a building

It’s a place where:

  • Kids discover confidence
  • Teens find belonging
  • Adults reconnect with creativity
  • Our community gathers in meaningful ways

We are building a space that reflects the energy, creativity, and spirit of Montrose.
