Expanding Creative Spaces in Ridgway & Montrose

Capital Campaigns

For more than 20 years, Weehawken Creative Arts has been a cornerstone of arts education in Ouray County and Montrose, serving youth, adults, and families with programs in dance, visual and performing arts, aerial and circus arts, and more. Over the past decade, growing demand for Weehawken’s programs has outpaced the capacity of its rented facilities. The time has come for Weehawken to secure its existence in Ouray County and Montrose by investing in permanent spaces to call home.

Our Montrose “New Home for Creativity” Project

Weehawken Creative Arts is launching a capital campaign to create a permanent home for our growing Montrose programs. This new facility will bring dance, visual arts, aerial, and community programming under one roof for the first time, allowing us to better serve students, families, and instructors in a safe, inspiring, purpose-built environment. With expanded classrooms, flexible gathering spaces, and room for creative events, this project strengthens access to the arts and establishes a vibrant hub for creativity in Montrose.

Our “Key to the Future” Capital Project in Ouray County

The Key to the Future Capital Campaign is a joint effort to secure permanent, shared spaces for Weehawken Creative Arts and Ridgway Chautauqua/Sherbino. This investment will allow both organizations to grow sustainably while continuing to serve the region through arts, culture, and lifelong learning. More than buildings, this campaign is about creating a lasting cultural home where creativity, connection, and community can thrive for generations. As we pay down the purchase of 145 & 147 N. Cora, we will free up operating dollars for programming expenses while putting us on a path toward long-term planning and development of the space.
