A LITTLE MORE ABOUT CIE:
Cie Hoover lives and creates his art in Ouray, Colorado. In addition to performing alongside his wife Karisa in the nationally touring folk-rock duo “You Knew Me When”, Cie has always had a passion for the visual arts since the days of his youth. After working in the Nashville music industry for nearly a decade, and then touring full-time for six and a half years throughout North America with “You Knew Me When”, Cie immersed himself in his love of the visual arts amongst the San Juan Mountains. Through the employment of wood as his primary medium, Cie’s art aims to pay homage to to nature and to the natural world around us. His artwork is primarily based in utilizing various types of wood to create both wall-mounted works with depth and texture, as well as large sculptural work that beg to be reflected on from all angles. His public art installations can be seen throughout Colorado and the Nashville International Airport, and his work is represented by the prestigious Slate Gray Gallery in Telluride.
A few quotes from folks about Cie’s art:
“From the first time I saw Cie’s woodwork, I was struck by its originality, and his work has grown exponentially since then. It has been a joy to watch his evolution as a visual artist, alongside his already well-recognized talents as a performing artist. There appear to be no limits to what he can accomplish!” – Mayor John Clark, Ridgway, CO
“I love how Cie’s pieces are dynamic and filled with movement, yet also calming to view.”- Samantha Weston, Public Art Administrator, Denver International Airport
“Cie’s artwork is gorgeous and unique.” – Miriam Watson, Museum Curator, Yellowstone National Park
“Hoover’s artworks evoke the solitude, peace, and inspiration found within the mountains and forests. He seeks these aspects when creating his artworks; every art piece he produces is inspired by the wood and environment with which it is created.”
– Telluride Arts District
