After-School Art for Ages 8-12 – Session 1: “Endangered Animals“

SESSION 1 (4 WEEKS • SEPTEMBER 16 – OCTOBER 7)
September 16 @ 3:15 pm – 4:45 pm
Discover the beauty of wildlife while exploring a variety of exciting art techniques! During this 4-week session, students will create artwork inspired by some of the world’s most vulnerable animals, exploring different species each week. As we create, we’ll share fun facts about each animal, discover what makes it unique, and explore how artists can inspire appreciation for the natural world. Projects may include mixed-media paintings, black-and-white chalk drawings (and/or sgraffito scratch art), printmaking, and detailed pencil drawings.
Students will strengthen their technical art skills while exploring composition, positive and negative space, shading, texture, value, and color.
A student art reception will be held in December. Students will take home their collected works in the days following the event—and may choose to sell their artwork or simply share it with pride.
