About Level Placement
Student’s placement in classes and workshops offered by WCA Dance is at the discretion of the WCA teaching staff and is subject to the approval of the Artistic Director. Any deviations from the standard placement must go through the Artistic Director. Please note that it is common for students to remain in a level for more than one year.
Note for Upper Level Ballet Students (POINTE)
Some Students may be able to begin pre-pointe and pointe work beginning in level III. Under no circumstances may students wear pointe shoes or take a WCA pointe class without first being approved by an Authorized Instructor. Pointe work can be very dangerous to students not properly prepared for pointe work.
Guide to classes by age range
*Please note, age range for classes are just a starting point to determining the right class for your dancer. Our teachers make class placement decisions freely and often move students based on their skill and maturity level. The age guidelines we use are based on the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum age and level guidelines. We use these same age guidelines for all of our classes to streamline class titles and make it easy to determine which classes may fit your child the best. Please notice some classes may have prerequisites.
*Some classes may be at a mixed level. For example 1/2 would mean that the class is a mixed level class, students may be either level 1 or level 2.
